Why We Procrastinate and How to Stop Fighting Ourselves
Workshop Details
Date: Wednesday, February 11, 2026
Time: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM PST
Cost: $150 per participant
Procrastination is often treated as a problem of discipline or time management. But for many thoughtful, capable people, it’s actually a signal—pointing to an internal conflict rather than a lack of willpower.
In this one-hour workshop, PQ Application: The Avoider, we’ll explore procrastination through the lens of the Avoider saboteur from the Positive Intelligence framework, while also expanding the conversation with an additional model that reframes procrastination as something that often serves us before it gets in our way. Rather than trying to eliminate avoidance, we’ll focus on understanding what it’s protecting—and how to work with it more skillfully.

The session will combine clear conceptual frameworks with guided reflection and conversation. You’ll examine your own patterns of avoidance, explore the inner values conflicts that often drive them, and experiment with a simple, practical way of re-engaging that doesn’t rely on pressure or self-criticism.
What You’ll Take Away
► A deeper understanding of why procrastination happens. You’ll explore the Avoider saboteur in depth and see how avoidance is often an intelligent response to internal tension, not laziness or lack of motivation.
► A reframed relationship with procrastination. Rather than treating it as something to overcome, you’ll learn how procrastination can function as useful information—revealing what feels risky, misaligned, or unresolved.
► Two complementary models for working with avoidance. One helps you identify and resolve the inner conflict that keeps you stuck; the other offers a simple, practical way to re-engage through small, low-resistance steps.
► A more compassionate and workable path forward. You’ll leave with less internal friction and a clearer sense of how to move ahead without escalating self-judgment or forcing yourself into action.
Procrastination doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. Often, it means something inside you is trying to be heard. This workshop offers a thoughtful, grounded exploration of avoidance—helping you replace inner battles with understanding and forward movement that actually lasts.
